Basic Info

Bio
The Basics

Character Name: Lucius Cyril Malfoy
PB: Jason Isaacs

Age: 45
Birthday: June 11, 1954
Wand: Kingwood with Unicorn Hair, 11 inches (9 of which protrude from the cane head).
House in School: Slytherin
Bloodline: Pureblood

Political View: Lucius Malfoy sees the government of the wizarding world and the various organizations as nothing more than puppets, there to fulfill his wishes and desires. He sees order as necessary, he is by no means an anarchist, but he's dissatisfied by the current state of things. He is staunchly against mixed blood and supports anything that puts purebloods above the rest. He'll pay lip-service to any organization he needs to, usually in the form of thousands of galleons, to accomplish his tasks. One thing remains clear, however, he will never say or support anything that would imply that mixed blood even approaches the level of pureblood. In whatever organization he is involved with he does his best to be on the 'inside'.
Appearance

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 185 lbs
Eyes: "Cold" gray.
Hair: White
Build: Tall and fit. Lucius exemplifies the lifestyle of one who remains fit but has no need for bulk.
Dress Style: Lucius only ever dresses in the best. His robes are always of the latest high-end wizarding fashion. He usually wears clothing very similar to that of a muggle business man (though he'd die before admitting the resemblance). He tends to wear an intricately woven fur-lined cloak when he's out and about. His clothing is almost always black, or varying shades of dark gray. He also typically carries a cane with him, that is actually a holster for his wand. The head of the cane (the part that holds the hand end of the wand) is the head of a biting snake, done in sterling silver.

Basic Physical Description: (will add)

Defining Marks: His face is pale and pointed. There is an arrogance etched in his features that is almost always there no matter what emotion he displays.
Personality

One of Lucius' strengths is his ability to grease all the right hinges. He is truly a master of manipulation. One of his weaknesses, however, is that if he get's overconfident, he'll tend to be less subtle in his manipulations which can lead to some amount of embarrassment afterwards if things don't turn out as he planned. He is strong-willed and not easily manipulated himself. In his drive for power, he only bows to those he fears. Now that Albus and Voldemort are both dead, it seems there are not many, if any, that he fears. This overconfidence however does not allow him to always properly estimate his enemy's strength. Rest assured, he will never underestimate the same enemy twice.

One of Lucius' quirks is that he always prides himself on his looks. He is always mortified to be seen unkempt in any way. Strange as it may sound, one of the worst parts of Azkaban for him was wearing prison issue clothing.

In general, Lucius sees life as his for the taking. He wants to build his power and pass this power to his son and heir Draco. Since Draco's defection however, Lucius sees his son as weak. He feels Draco needs "strengthening of character."
Psychology

Extrovert/Introvert: Very much the extrovert, Lucius has no problems mixing and mingling with the 'in' crowds. Though he may be all politeness at times, he never considers anyone who is not pureblood his friend. Most times he is downright nasty to those who are not "pure," or even purebloods who fraternize with non-purebloods.
Boggart Would Be: Dead Draco. Through it all, his greatest fear would be to see the Malfoy line end and his machinations come to naught.
Patronus Would Be: A serpent, because Lucius is a master of subtle manipulation, and to him the serpent exemplifies this quality.
Sexuality

Straight. Lucius has only ever had romantic relationships with women and has never had the desire nor curiosity to experiment with "alternative" lifestyles. Despite his dark nature, once married to Narcissa, Lucius has always been a faithful husband to her.
Lifestyle

Occupation: No known paid employment that anyone knows of.
Residence: Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire, in south-west England.
Financial Status: Extremely Wealthy. Lucius was born into wealth.
Family

Parents: Abraxus Lionel Malfoy and Alyssia Richelle Cabrera
Siblings: None

Within the family, the Malfoys do get along fairly well. Narcissa loves her son Draco and dotes over him, as seen by the treats she consistently sent to Draco at Hogwarts, and her pleading with Snipe to protect Draco from the Dark Lord. Lucius loves his son, but has a very authoritarian relationship with his son. He expects great things of Draco, being his only heir. By the end of the war, when Draco defected to the Order, this upset and disappointed Lucius greatly. Though he still loves his son, he sees him as weak. He most definitely accepts his child's magical talent, and not only does Lucius push a 'pure-blood' marriage, but would never approve of any relationship with anyone but a pure-blood.
History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time

Lucius Malfoy began his first year at Hogwarts in the Fall of 1965. He was very excited to begin his education in the wizarding arts. Like his father and grandfather before him, he was accepted into the House of Slytherin. This was a point of pride to Lucius, to be in the same house as his ancestors. Even at the age of eleven, Lucius already had an air of arrogance. He was a pure-blood and he let everyone know it. He quickly made friends with the other pure-bloods, and was a natural leader among them. Lucius did not just make friends with any pure-blood though. He very carefully associated himself with the children of families who he believed to be most influential.

Abraxus expected a lot out of Lucius, and Lucius did his best to live up to his Father's expectations. At times his Father's expectations chafed, but that would cause Lucius to only try harder. He did well in most of his classes, showing a special aptitude for the defense against the dark arts. When he had free time though, he would always spend a portion of it also practicing the dark arts themselves. He did well enough in potions and transfiguration, but he never did very well at divination. It was a constant source of irritation to him his first year that there was any subject he did not do well at, but he eventually accepted the subjects he was weak at and chose to concentrate on his strengths instead. Luckily for Lucius, his father did not hold much stock in divination anyway.

Things went well for Lucius in the following years at Hogwarts. It was during his time at Hogwarts that he fell in love with Narcissa Black. They had met before coming to Hogwarts, when their families would get together for tea, but not until Hogwarts, did Lucius truly take a fancy to Narcissa. He scored well on his OWLs, and by his last two years at Hogwarts, Lucius was a very influential person in his house. If something needed done, Lucius made sure it was done. Lucius was also a follower of Voldemort by this time, but Voldemort felt it would be best if Lucius finished out his time there. Lucius did not truly believe in the Dark Lord as a great being, but as a quick way to power. True he feared the Dark Lord as did everyone, but it was more fear of his power than fear of retribution or the like.

During his last year at Hogwarts Lucius took note of a first year, Severus Snape. He saw a lot of promise in Severus, who clearly had a sharp wit and a desire to succeed. Despite Severus' unfortunate lineage, Lucius associated with him, and would make it a point to talk to him when he would see Severus in Knockturn Alley during the summer breaks.

In the spring of 1972, Lucius graduated with high marks and high esteem. He was soon thereafter married to Narcissa Black. (Again, more details after I talk with Narcissa). Lucius became even more entrenched in the dark arts and when Voldemort began his real push to power, he was among his most avid supporters. Before Voldemort's first reign of terror, however, Lucius spent his time networking in the wizarding world and building his influence in the government. He awaited his master's command to begin the attack on the wizarding and muggle world. During the Dark Lord's first reign of terror, Lucius took great pleasure in torturing muggles and other wizards, most especially the "mud-bloods". He truly was among the most trusted and valued of Voldemort's followers. Voldemort trusted Lucius with many of his greatest plans.

Lucius never had a personal grudge against James Potter during the war. He was nothing more than another Wizard among the ranks of the enemies. It was when, on that fateful night that Voldemort was defeated by an infant child, Harry Potter, that Lucius took full notice of the Potters. He hated Harry Potter, not so much because he had killed Voldemort, but because he had crushed his ambitions of great power...at least for now. Lucius knew the Dark lord was still alive, in one form or another, and chose to bide his time. Lucius was arrested with many of the other Death Eaters. He claimed, as did many others that his actions were done under the Imperius Curse. With a few galleons in one pocket and a few in another, Lucius was pronounced innocent and set free. Lucius was also grateful to be set free, as his own son and future heir, Draco, had been born only a year previous. His son needed a "proper" upbringing, and it wouldn't do to have his father in prison.

Lucius continued his machinations in the wizarding government and continued to build his influence. He was constantly devising ways to increase his own political power. Through this influence he had gained and the large sums of galleons he had donated to various entities, Lucius gained great influence in the Ministry of Magic, and especially with Fudge. Lucius was indeed beginning to get a portion of the power he sought. The dark mark, however, was ever present to remind him that his master would one day return, which would give him the chance to obtain real power. In 1991, Draco began his time at Hogwarts. Lucius would have preferred to send his son to Durmstrang, but Narcissa did not want her son to be so far away, and Lucius acquiesced to her desires.

Lucius spent much of his time and money trying to force certain changes on Hogwarts. He did all he could to get mud-bloods out of Hogwarts and bring Hogwarts to be the pure-blood school that Slytherin had envisioned. Lucius saw Albus Dumbledore as a poor headmaster and even succeeded in temporarily removing him from Hogwarts (and to his embarrassment Albus found out about Lucius' threats to the others on the council).

When Voldemort began his rise to power once again, Lucius was immediately there to support him. Though the Dark Lord was displeased that Lucius hadn't put more effort into finding him, Lucius quickly became his most trusted servant once again. On June 24, 1995, Lucius was there to take part in the attack on Harry Potter in the graveyard. Luckily for Lucius, Harry Potter was not believed and Lucius was able to continue with his influence in the ministry of magic.

In the battle at the Ministry of Magic, Lucius again led the Death Eaters in their attack. Unfortunately for Lucius, this attack did not at all turn out as planned, and Lucius was captured and sent to Azkaban. Voldemort took advantage of this situation, and told Draco that if he didn't kill Dumbledore, he would kill his father Lucius for having failed him. Draco, does indeed fail in his mission, but Severus Snape finishes it for him. As a consequence both Draco and Lucius are spared, but Draco comes into great disfavor with the Dark Lord.

The war with the Dark Lord raged on and in July 1997, Lucius was freed from Azkaban along with several others of the Death Eaters, swelling Voldemort's ranks considerably. Lucius was again very active in the service of the Dark Lord. Over the next three years, Lucius did all he could to serve Voldemort in whatever way he could, believing strongly that this time, the Dark Lord would win, and his own personal rise to power would finally be achieved. Through those last few years Lucius never saw his son Draco. The two were always kept apart either by chance, or design of Voldemort. When Draco defected to the Order near the end of the war, this caused great anger and disappointment in Lucius. Lucius was ashamed of his son's weakness, but his son had made a choice and would have to live...or die with it. In his heart Lucius greatly feared the second option. Though he was ashamed of his son, he had no one else to carry on his legacy when he was gone.

During those last days of February 2000, Voldemort and his followers attacked Hogwarts fiercely in an attempt to stamp out the greatest of their opposers, and most especially Harry Potter. When Voldemort was finally destroyed, Lucius fell to the ground in pain along with the rest of the Death Eaters, writhing in agony as the Dark Mark burned away forever. But for Lucius, even greater than the pain of the Dark Mark disappearing, was the pain of knowing he had failed in his grab for power, and he knew there would likely be no way to clear his name this time. Lucius was arrested once again, and sent back to Azkaban.
